Building your list of providers
Selecting your provider type
When building out a Market View search, the first thing you will want to do is select your target provider type. The type of provider you choose will be dependent on your use case and target market! Choose between individuals, organizations, and systems.
-
Individuals represent physicians (HCPs).
-
Organizations represent healthcare organizations (HCOs). Organizations may include hospitals, physician groups, surgery centers, long term care facilities, clinics, and/or imaging centers.
-
Systems represent health systems, also known as an Integrated Delivery Networks (IDN) and networks.
The filters
There are eight main filters available in the Market View module. You will have the option to use these filters regardless of your desired provider type.
-
Segments (not available for all Carevoyance accounts): Segments are based on the types of providers and organizations that you may want to target to help you quickly build your target list.
-
Lists (most useful for Field View specific use cases): Quickly filter by your previously customized list of providers.
-
Location: Drill into specific markets based on city, state, and/or zip code.
-
Specialty: Based on provider taxonomy, this filter allows you to build a list of providers based on their classification.
-
Care Clusters: As the most powerful filter, Care Clusters allow you to build your list of providers based on your entire target patient population. Remember, the Care Clusters in your account are unique to your business needs and are customized and created for you by your Carevoyance team.
-
Time period: Filters patient and claims volumes for the specified year or partial year.
-
Search: Use the search bar to find a particular provider.
-
All Filters: Includes a robust list of additional filters that can be layered onto your search including affiliations, diagnosis/procedure codes, provider type, and much more! Pro tip: More often than not, many users find the most value in the six main filters listed above!
Let's take a deeper look into what each of the filters are and how you can use them to build your target list of providers. When applying filters, it is important to remember that your list of results is based on ALL filters you apply. This means that if you layer multiple filters onto your search, your list of results will need to match all applied criteria. Click on the link below to open the Market View Filters Help Center article to get a better understanding of what filters are available in this module.
Now that we have covered the main filters used in the Market View module, feel free to check out the additional filters available within All Filters! Please keep in mind that all filters are optional, and do not need to be layered on if it's not relevant to your use case. Pro tip: If you are interested in more information on any filters specific to your use case, please reach out to your designated customer success team.
Exploring your list of providers
Now that we have covered how you can build your target list of providers, let's take a look at the additional capabilities available for you to take advantage of within the Market View module. Below we have outlined the general capabilities.
- List & Pivot: Select how you want to view your search results. You can either view a list (pictured in this example) or a customizable pivot view of your ideal providers.
- Filtered by: Expand this feature to view all the filters you applied to your search. Modify your filters by clicking on the 'x' to remove any or select 'Clear All' to start over.
- Sort by: Use the sorting feature to realign your search results. Simply click on any of the filters listed to sort your results by that metric. Pro tip: Use the keyword search to quickly find the metric you want to sort by.
-
Save Search: You can either save your search or create a new codeset. These allow you to easily jump back into your search results straight from the home page.
-
Saved searches will include any of your applied search criteria such as geography, specialties, and more.
-
Codesets are coding combinations comprised of one or multiple care clusters, diagnosis and/or procedure codes. Saving a codeset will only save the coding combination you created for this search.
-
- Export: Click on the export icon to send your search results as a CVS file directly to your inbox. Pro tip: If you cannot click on this icon, that means the data is not exportable.
List vs. Pivot
As noted above, there are two ways in which you can view the results of your Market View search depending on how you want to view the data. Let's dive into how each of these views can be used!
List view
List view will showcase your target providers with the most relevant at the top of your list, based on the criteria you've applied to refine your results.
In List view you can:
-
Use the check boxes on the left to select one or multiple providers from your search results list. Creating a provider list allows you to save specific individuals, instead of saving the entire search (think of this as a list of your favorite profiles). You can create multiple provider lists to organize your ideal providers.
-
Use the star icon to add a provider or organization to your QuickList. QuickList will compile any and all providers of your choosing, instead of organizing them into separate provider lists. Pro tip: You can access the QuickList from your navigation banner across the top of your screen.
-
Click on any provider name to dive into their profile.
-
Instantly generate interactive reports that show provider case loss, patient treatment destinations, market share, case retention, patient pathways, and much more.
-
Regardless of the provider type you searched for; the middle section of the providers information will display each provider's affiliations. Click into any linked affiliation name to dive into that profile.
-
The information on the far left of each provider information card will reflect the filters you applied to your search.
- Using the dropdown menu, you can view Care Cluster volumes by patients, encounters (claims), revenue or care setting, depending on the codes you are viewing. (In the image below, we are looking at the Patients menu option).
-
Click on the export icon to download this table as a CVS file.
Pivot view
You can load your list of results into a pivot table to allow you to get a high-level view of various markets for procedures. This gives you the power to nest geographic filters and understand the procedure volume breakdown by state and county, and more!
In Pivot view you can:
-
View the aggregation levels on the far right. These aggregation levels allow you to choose how this table populates. The available aggregation levels are state, Core Based Statistical Area (CBSA), county, Hospital Referral Regions (HRR), Hospital Service Areas (HSA), health system, and specialty. Using the + icons, you can layer additional information into the table to customize how the data populates. If you select the + icon in front of a metric it will populate that as the baseline for your table. If you select the + icon after a metric it will populate an expandable line item in your table. Note: You can only layer on 3 levels of aggregation!
-
Choose whether you want the table and map to display patients or encounters (claims).
-
Click on the export icon to download the table as a CVS file.
-
If you layer on an aggregation level such as HRR, HSA, CBSA, or county, you will have the option to change the map to display by that metric.
-
Hover over any location on the map to quickly view the number of providers and patients within that area that meet your search criteria.
-
The low to high scale at the bottom of the map helps you indicate the volume of patients or encounters (claims) represented by color. Note: This will reflect your selection from the count field.
